Expert Review of Pharmaceconomics & Outcomes Research
accepted for coverage in MEDLINE®

Expert Reviews Ltd announced today that its journal Expert Review of Pharmaceconomics & Outcomes Research (ISSN 1473-7167) has been selected for coverage in MEDLINE®. Maintained by the U.S. National Library of Medicine®, MEDLINE (Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online) is a premier bibliographic database containing approximately 13 million references to journal articles in life sciences.

Expert Review of Pharmaceconomics & Outcomes Research is published on a bimonthly basis in print and online formats on a rapid publication basis, with articles subject to peer review by three independent assessors. The journal has an international expert authorship and offers review articles, original research, editorials, technology reports, interviews, perspectives and a variety of added-value content.

Outcomes research is dramatically on the increase. In certain fields, such as cancer treatment, new treatments are emerging quickly and can have a significant impact on both survival and quality of life. However, governments are paying increased attention to the costs of new therapies as national healthcare and insurance budgets come under increasing scrutiny, especially in the current economic climate. Elisa Manzotti, Editorial Director of the Expert Review series commented, “This specialized field has emerged as a real focus of attention in the past few years. We are delighted, therefore, that Expert Review of Pharmacoeconomics & Outcomes Research has been accepted for inclusion and will work with Senior Editor of the journal, Dr Andrew Bottomley, to ensure that future issues of Expert Review of Pharmacoeconomics & Outcomes Research keep pace with the huge amount of research being generated.” She continued; “We would like to thank Dr Bottomley and the Editorial Board for their hard work, intellectual input and guidance in targeting and evaluating topical, pioneering content to ensure inclusion of the journal in MEDLINE.”

Senior Editor, Dr Andrew Bottomley is Head of the Quality of Life Unit within the European Organisation for Research & Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) in Brussels, Belgium. Dr Bottomley commented, “Expert Review of Pharmacoeconomics & Outcomes Research has rapidly established a reputation for high-quality, timely commentary and analysis. I am delighted that this has now been recognized by MEDLINE and welcome the additional exposure that this will give the journal within the health economics community”.

Andrew Bottomley is supported by four Associate Editors and an Advisory Panel of 40 opinion leaders in health economics and outcomes research. The Associate Editors are Professor Charles Cleeland of the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas, Professor Hans-Henning Flechtner of the University of Magdeburg, Germany, Professor Carolyn Gotay of the University of Hawaii, and Dr Martin Taphoorn of Medical Centre "Haaglanden" in The Netherlands.

Also accepted for inclusion in MEDLINE was Future Cardiology, part of the Future series published by Future Medicine Ltd, a sister imprint of Expert Reviews, which also operates under the Future Science Group banner.

The National Library of Medicine MEDLINE selection process is managed by an advisory committee, the Literature Selection Technical Review Committee, composed of authorities knowledgeable in the field of biomedicine, such as physicians, researchers, educators, editors, health science librarians and historians, to review and recommend the journal titles NLM should index. MEDLINE is searchable for free using PubMed at http://pubmed.gov.
