Colorectal Cancer Launch

Future Medicine Ltd has today announced the launch of Colorectal Cancer – a new bimonthly title addressing current best practice and latest advances in the field, including translational aspects. The new title highlights optimal clinical practice and management, presenting research findings, analysis and commentaries from experts around the world. The journal also focuses on important R&D progress and explores prospectively the relevance of these advances in the clinical context. London-based Future Medicine is part of the Future Science Group.
Colorectal cancer is a major cause of morbidity and mortality, particularly in the developed world. Risk factors for colorectal cancer are on the rise in many countries; populations are aging, and obesity and diabetes are increasing. National screening programs are helping to detect cancer while it is still curable; however, colorectal cancer remains the third leading cause of cancer deaths in the USA and options are still limited for those with more advanced disease. In the USA alone, the disease is expected to lead to more than 50,000 deaths this year.
Heinz-Josef Lenz of the University of Southern California, USA is the Senior Editor of the new journal and is supported by a team of international experts on the editorial advisory panel. Heinz-Josef Lenz commented, “With increased understanding of the complexity of molecular characterization of colon cancer, this journal will guide clinicians, scientists and healthcare providers through the new findings and provide reviews of new clinical findings, and new translational breakthroughs which impact care of patients with colorectal cancer. We have assembled an international team of colorectal cancer experts covering all fields and aspects of research to provide rapid access to new findings to our readers.”
Articles published in Colorectal Cancer cover a full range of topics, from prevention through to follow-up care for cancer survivors. The journal addresses current strategies for screening and diagnosis as well as the potential for new biomarkers and improvements in diagnostic imaging technologies. The key focus is on evidence-based surgical and nonsurgical treatment strategies, both optimizing current surgical techniques and chemo- and radio-therapy schedules, and developing novel targeted therapies. Articles take the form of reviews, analysis and original articles, which have all undergone thorough peer review.
Elisa Manzotti, Editorial Director at the Future Science Group said, “FSG has a well established oncology portfolio, including leading titles such as Expert Review of Anticancer Therapy and Future Oncology. We are delighted to be working with Prof. Lenz to create a new, highly-focused resource for all physicians and healthcare practitioners who are striving to provide the best possible evidence-based care for patients with colorectal cancer, whilst also providing a preview of the research advances that will transform clinical practice.”
